Of Gummy Bears and Late Thursday Brunches

“MANILA, Philippines—The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is now training its guns on the anti-discrimination bill, saying the possible enactment of the bill into law would open the door for the legalization of same sex marriages.” (Inquirer) 

So, news has reached me that the CBCP is at it again with their controversies. Why do they feel the need to meddle with issues that are obviously beyond their jurisdiction? First, the reproductive health bill and now, against the LGBT community rights. 

The problem with the CBCP is they feel that they have authority over everyone else, even the government, relying on the fact that the Philippines is a largely-catholic populated country. 

Reverend Fathers, please practice what you preach. You have told us time and again to love our neighbors as ourselves. Why should we make an exception to homosexuals?

I also remembered the CBCP mentioning that “Gays and lesbians are sinners if they commit homosexual acts.” 

Really? 

“In 2002 the Catholic Church apologized for sexual abuses, including adultery, homosexuality and child abuse by two hundred priests over the previous 20 years” (BBC NEWS)

It is not a secret that a majority of priests are homosexuals. CBCP, please explain this shit to us.

But don’t get me wrong, I am a devout Catholic; I am a firm believer of Christ, but I oppose the CBCP’s bigotry. Burn me for my freedom of speech.

The problem with CBCP is that they exist. They are irrelevant.

It is when the co-author of the RH-Bill Senator Pia Cayetano proposed a hypothetical scenario: “So, if a man and a woman are sleeping together as husband and wife and a man avails of the withdrawal method and ejaculates outside the vagina of a woman, that is ‘interference’ in the same way a condom would be, because the man and the woman decided not to allow the egg and the sperm to meet, is that his Honor’s position?”

Sen. Cayetano thinks what cojones are

To which the honorable Senator Enrile replied: “Well, if the man wants to satisfy himself by manipulating himself alone, if it is only for pleasure, then it interferes with the production of life. That is my belief. That is a matter of faith to me.”

In the near future, the government will supply hundreds of surveillance trucks that will be online 24/7 to detect anyone who will try to “manipulate himself for pleasure”, to those who’ll be apprehended, they will be imprisoned from 5 days to a year, depending on how long or how pleasurable the experience was.

“I SAW WHAT YOU DID THERE.” Yes, the government will be planting nanny cams in our rooms to see those who are ‘manipulating themselves’
